Do you like puzzles? When I was a kid my mom loved puzzles. She would get huge ones, she and my older sister would put them together and I would watch. Sometimes it would take days for them to finish a puzzle. The problem was, our pet dogs and cats would take the pieces off the table and dispose of them. It was frustrating for my mom and my sister because they could not finish a puzzle. It seemed like there were always pieces missing.
This had me thinking about our lives. Each event in our lives is like being handed a piece of a puzzle. We don’t know what the puzzle will look like in the end. This thought process changed my outlook on things in life. God knows what the picture will look like in the end, we just need to hang on to those pieces and put them to good use. This give us hope in this life.
It is easy to put our hope in God when things are going well. We can see how the pieces of the puzzle fit into our lives. We praise God when things are well in our marriage or when we get a promotion at work and money is no object. However when troubled skies declare open season on our lives it’s another story. When our children are struggling, we get laid off at work and we just don’t think we can make it another day our praise turns to mourning. We beg God to get us out as we barter with Him.
Hope is, continuing to gather puzzle pieces even when we don’t see how they fit into our lives. We know one thing for sure, God knows where those pieces fit into our lives. We need to trust God as He fills us with hope and joy. Keep collecting those puzzle pieces God will reveal the picture to you someday, if not here on earth, than in your final home, Heaven.
